Wow...It has been a long time since I have posted on my blog! I have finally made some necesssary changes to it to reflect my current endeavors and it has been a refreshing change:) I look forward to adding to it but for now I am going to repost something from last year because I think many could benefit from seeing the very informative yet comical video. It covers the role Insulin plays and addresses the story of how we get fat! Following the clip are my thoughts regarding the video and Insulin Resistance...Enjoy!
When I watched this for the first time I could not believe how simple it sounded. So, let me try and break it down again. Insulin is a storage hormone. It is released by CARBOHYDRATE and protein respectively. Insulin is released to bring down your blood sugar. Then it goes into storage mode and tells your body to store fat!! As Dr. Eades points out, we have limited space for carbohydrate storage. Carbohydrate is stored in the liver or muscles as glycogen. When those storage sites are full the CARBOHYDRATE is converted and stored as fat as we have UNLIMITED space for fat storage. Basically most of us have MADE our bodies have greedy fat cells by eating all the processed, carbohydrate rich foods that are passed off as "healthy." When your insulin level is high, your fat cells become "greedy" and will not let anything out of the cells. Instead of your body using the stored fat as fuel it tricks you into thinking you are hungry again. So of course you eat. And more than likely you eat a nice mix of unhealthy, artery clogging crap. The fat stored in your fat cells cannot get out and, well...you just keep getting fatter.
I would also like to share with you a small excerpt from Dr. Eades book:Protein Power
The medical problems that confound us today will probably amaze scientists in the 21st century as they puzzle over why we medical pioneers of today were unable to reach out and grasp the obvious, why were we so advanced in certain areas of medical treatment yet so abysmally deficient in others. Why, they may ask, could our surgeons perform open heart surgery so skillfully as to make it a routine operation while at the same time our nutritional experts couldn't determine the optimal diet for preventing most of the problems necessitating that procedure
When I read that paragraph I was absolutely blown away. How ridiculous does that really seem to you? Open heart surgery HAS become a routine operation, yet prescribing an optimal diet for humans somehow escapes them? It's absurd. Take charge of your health before you end up on that operating table. Educate yourself on the dangers of Insulin Resistance and what you can do to turn your diet around. Quit putting absolute crap into your body now instead of after your first heart attack or even worse after you are diagnosed with breast, colon or prostate cancer. Take your health and longevity seriously. Do not take it for granted.
